'Try your hardest' or should you really?

"Try your hardest" was the phrase she said 

to keep herself up during the cold winter nights

All the fright and futile text she read,

made her face dull  which was meant to be bright

As days and months passed, she was part of

a vicious cycle, trying to gain back her conscience

While struggling and sulking to find a purpose

she could finally see herself getting drained,

only to find out that she had failed once again
